I suppose I owe the great state of Texas an apology. I've spared no effort to malign the Lone Star State in the past. My eyes have been opened and a new respect and appreciation has manifested itself to me. Yee-Haw, Texas.The bill first ran into problems last week when it came up one vote shy of the 21 needed for a floor vote. Sen. Mario Gallegos, D-Houston, who originally supported the bill, changed his mind after college administrators in his district complained about the potentially high cost of liability insurance and adding security.
Gallegos also asked teachers he knows to poll their students.
“(They) overwhelmingly wanted me to vote against the bill,” he said Monday.

Who could have possibly guessed? The college communities themselves don't want guns on their campuses.
