Fix the Gun Check System

Who could possibly be opposed to this?

    Me for one.

The video makes it sound like they just want to get states to get better at placing records with NICS. Then you go to the website and they start harping about non existent loopholes and online sales and throw a couple of Mikey's dog&pony show "stings".

  2. Yup, I'm against it too. It's made to look so innocent, and yet, as we've seen here, this is one piece of a much bigger set of gun control proposals. It's this one and that one and the one after that, all adding up to a general strategy of removing guns from private ownership.

  3. I'll bet gun rights activists would approve of sweeping gun registration schemes and background check systems as long as we added a new Constitutional Amendment: the amendment would spell out in no uncertain terms that such a registry could only be accessed to disarm individual criminals. The registry could not be used to disarm the public.

What is wrong with that? Who could possibly oppose such a Constitutional Amendment?

By the way I am not be sarcastic. I really mean my proposal as well as the questions.

  4. Capn Crunch,

Add an individual right to firearms, to overcome Laci's objections, and a right to carry in public places, and you might be on to something.

  5. You guys are biased and close-minded. The pitch is for eliminating private sales without a background check. That's it.

Those are what FWM calls "non existent loopholes and online sales." The all need to be regulated.

Greg is afraid of the slippery slope and the Capn too I guess. The next logical step would be registration.

  6. Mikeb302000,

Afraid? No. Vigilant? Yes. As I've said before, if you're ready to offer us something in return, we'll listen. You can tell me that I have a closed mind, but you're the one who's unwilling to make compromises. And don't give me any blather about how I'll gain a safer society. That's your belief, and we don't buy into it.

  7. MikeB,

Slippery slope concerns aside, I am in favor of background checks for private sales/transfers.

No one answered my questions about a Constitutional Amendment.

  8. What is with the delusional fuckwad formerly known as Greg Camp? Using the royal, "We" is a sure sign of mental instability.

  9. A Constitutional Amendment for background checks sounds fine to me. It should also state that the 2nd is no longer operative.

  10. Mikeb302000,

Your comment is why such an amendment will never pass. Can you really see three fifths of the states supporting the loss of our gun rights? You might get a few of the gun grabber paradises to go along, but wide stretches of the country would say, hell no! That's why I tell you that you have to give us something to get something.

Jesus fucking Christ, do you ever get tired of that whole whining while shaking your fist schtick? It's embarassing to watch, never mind be doing.

  12. Democommie,

Uh, how is an analysis of the current political situation in this country an example of whining while shaking my fist? Are you suggesting that there is any chance of passing a constitutional amendment of the kind described? Actually, could any amendment pass right now? I'm not whining; I'm pointing out reality.

  13. Greg Camp:

You, like so many of your gunzloonz palz spend about equal parts of your time gloating about your "gains" in gunzloonery and pissing and moaning about being hamstrung by that ol' debbil gummint.
