David Keene Defends the Cuomo - Hitler Comparison

Gun owners and Second Amendment rights advocates rally during a pro-gun rally at the State Capitol in Albany, New York, February 28, 2013. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is depicted as Adolf Hitler on placard in the foreground. Cuomo on January 15 signed into law one of the nation's toughest gun-control measures and the first to be enacted since the mass shooting in December 2012 at an elementary school in neighboring Connecticut. The National Rifle Association’s President said Friday that he saw nothing wrong with protesters comparing Gov. Cuomo to Adolf Hitler at an Albany demonstration against the governor’s sweeping new gun control law.

David Keene, one of the featured speakers at Thursday’s rally outside the state Capitol, said the protesters were trying to demonstrate what happens when a government disarms its citizenry.

“Folks that are cognizant of the history, not just in Germany but elsewhere, look back to the history and say we can’t let that sort of thing happen here,” Keene said during an Albany radio appearance.
This is stupid beyond words. What do you think?

  1. A Jewish teen armed with a revolver who gut-shot a Nazi officer was what precipitated Kristallnacht. Following that occurrence, Hitler relaxed gun ownership for nearly everyone EXCEPT Jews, on the basis of concerns about future violence.

    There is absolutely ZERO connection between NOT relaxing gun laws for Jews, and the subsequent events of WW II. ZERO.

    Only bad revisionist history from the right, including the NRA, makes such stupid claims.

    NRA = Ignorance and Dishonesty.

  2. So, as I understand your statement, the actions of a Jew in Paris brought about the speech by Goebbels in Munich, which led to a series of orders by Heydrich to all State Police offices. So it was, of course, also what precipitated the closing of Jewish businesses (unless managed by a non-Jew), the barring of Jewish children from attending school and both the "Decree on Eliminating the Jews from German Economic Life" and the "The Decree on the Penalty Payment by Jews Who Are German Subjects". And I spent all those years thinking the actions of Hershel Grynszpan were just an excuse.

  3. Tyrants everywhere of all persuasions are one in the same. The belief that one person has the right to control everyone, especially when claiming that it's for everyone's good, is pernicious and impossible to eradicate. But it must be fought at every flare-up.

    Of course, the poster is somewhat in error, since Cuomo's hat is one that Mussolini wore. But as I said, all tyrants participate in the same evil.

  4. Interesting. Something like 12,000 people converge on the state capital of New York and:
    (1) It is merely a "demonstration".
    (2) I didn't see or hear anything about this on mainstream news.
