Concealed Carry Permit Holder Leaves Gun Accessible to a Kid - The Kid Dies - Gun Owner Arrested

A tragic accident occurred in a small Michigan town Sunday when a 3-year-old boy died after shooting himself in the head.

According to the Associated Press, the child, identified as Damon Holbrook, picked up a loaded gun belonging to a man staying in his home in Dundee near the Ohio border. The man, reportedly a friend of the boy’s father, had allegedly left the gun on the floor of a bedroom closet after returning home from work.

Sgt. Tom Redmond told local Fox affiliate WJBK-TV that the man, whose name has not been released, had a pistol license.

The 30-year-old man was arrested and is being held for manslaughter with gross negligence, according to the Detroit Free Press.

  1. I've run into End the NRA before. He's a Canadian who trolls on Twitter and then gets pissy when people disagree with him.

    1. Is "trolls" synonymous with "expresses opinions I disagree with." As a word maven, you should be more precise and imaginative than that.

    2. No, I mean it precisely in the sense of someone who casts a net into the sea to catch whatever comes up. End the NRA makes nonsense statements on Twitter to start arguments, and then runs away and blocks people when they respond.

Sounds like several we know, doesn't it...

  2. "End the NRA" huh. Because if we're going to push to violate the 2nd Amendment, we might as well not respect the First!

  3. "The man who owned the gun a 3-year-old used to kill himself was charged today with a high misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to two years in prison.
Joshua Michael Greenhill, 30, was arraigned in Monroe County District Court before Judge Terrence Bronson and charged with a weapons firearm charge: careless discharge causing injury or death. In addition to the prison time, the charge also carries a fine of $2,000."

"Mr. Greenhill, who has a permit to carry the gun and has no criminal record, came home from work Sunday and took his gun out of its holster. It was loaded with a bullet in the chamber. He put it in a plastic gun case that was not locked, Chief Uhl said."

Mike, I had to go look at another source, because "pistol license" isn't necessarily a carry permit. This time you're correct, though I cant be sure if you really knew or the fact if you say everyone in the news has a carry permit, eventually you'll be right.
From this report, the guy is an idiot, and pretty much deserves whatever book they throw at him.

    1. Thanks for confirming that the ambiguous "pistol permit" is just what I thought it is.

But not to worry, a little plea bargaining and this guy will be right back in business and the incredible stats of offending concealed carry permit holders will continue to be incredible.

    2. Ah, and we're back to the nationwide, grassroots level conspiracy to pad the permit holder stats by letting them off with plea deals that let them keep their permits. Upholding that conspiracy is clearly the first item of business for all of these D.A.'s! Especially for all of the liberal, anti-gun ones.

    3. You're correct, the claims that you make are incredible--using the proper sense of the word, which is "impossible to believe." You make claims, but offer no evidence. There are more than eight million of us with carry licenses or who carry in states that don't require people to ask permission. Even if you provided proof of one a day screwing up, that would still be a tiny percentage of the total.

      Have you learned math yet?
