An Armed Society is a Polite Society - Texas Style

Police were looking for a suspect Monday after a man was shot to death during an argument at a Mexican restaurant in Dallas.
The shooting happened Sunday night after the two men argued inside the restaurant.
One of the men went outside, got a handgun out of his vehicle, returned to the restaurant and opened fire, police said.
The victim, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was taken to a hospital where he later died.

  1. I would humbly suggest next time drive ten miles through the lake district and eat at El Guapo, Denton's first and foremost Tex-Mex eatery. Avocados are available.

People that bring guns to restaurants are anti-social, to say the very least.

    1. I bring my gun with me to every restaurant I go to. The funny thing is that no one gets shot. But characterizing every member of a group by the actions of a few is rarely a good idea.

    2. Everywhere? Geez, Greg, I'd be ashamed to be such a feckless coward. I outgrew my baseless senseless fear of mice and dust years ago. I guess you got some growing to do.

    3. Greg, we realize these "few" are not representative of the majority of gun owners. Yet, we don't accept that they're so few that nothing should be done about them. Why do you support them? Why don't you demand that unfit and dangerous people be refused firearms?

    4. Anonymous squeaks through the moderation, but remains stupid.

Mikeb, I know that your proposals won't stop those people. I know that you have a faith that passes all understanding on this subject, but I remain agnostic until I'm shown proof, and I also reject in many ways your definitions of who is dangerous and unfit.

  2. I don't doubt that you are completely non-violent. Personally, I rarely even lock my car in public. Most of the time, I do not lock my house. Last year some kids came into my backyard when I wasn't home. I simply do not face any threats.

But I do understand that not everyone can be so lucky. I enjoy finding common ground with you, Greg. Keep on teaching the American youth.

That's what fascinates me about Mike's blog. Getting to meet and talk to guys that carry guns.

I know for a fact that nobody will ever threaten me. I know that my father will eventually die of old age and not at the hands of a criminal.

    1. But how do you know that for a fact? I do hope it is true, but I don't have your faith.

    2. No one knows the future, Greg, not even Flying Junior. But, reasonable, secure men know that unless they have very particular circumstances in their lives, they will probably never need a gun to save their lives. They realize that the down side of gun ownership is fare greater than the benefits.

    3. And many reasonable and secure men and women choose to own and carry guns. Why must you always make this into psychological speculation without evidence?

    4. Many, yes, depending on your very flexible meaning of the word. It's also safe to say that MANY are unreasonable and insecure, present company included.

    5. Mikeb, it's pointless to call you a liar and a wretched human being, since honesty isn't important to you, but I note that once again, you fail to provide evidence for your silly claims.
