Kids Killed and Wounded with Guns - What Can Be Done?

I literally don't have the time to post all the stories in the news each day about kids being killed and wounded with guns. The next five posts are an indication, not an exhaustive report, just an indication of what's out there each day. Kids in the US are dropping like flies and it doesn't matter if you divide the numbers by all the guns in the country or all the gun owners in the world or all the planets in the galaxy in order to get a tiny percentage, it's a national disgrace.

The lying gun-rights fanatics insist that nothing can be done about this. They have to say that, otherwise how unfeeling and hard-hearted would they sound? But it's an obvious lie.

Stricter gun control laws would improve this situation drastically. Only a dishonest huckster with an agenda to protect would deny it.

By requiring proper qualifications prior to issuing a gun-owners license we would disqualify many of the lackadaisical folks responsible for the tragedies we read about every day. By requiring all gun owners to keep their weapons safely stored when not in use, we would surely avoid many of these unnecessary deaths and injuries.

Why do the gun-rights advocates resist so?

Well, I believe they're self-centered narcissists for the most part, folks who feel one of these unspeakable tragedies will never happen to them personally and therefore they simple don't want to be inconvenienced. And inconvenience is all it would be for those who are truly responsible and law-abiding.  They would continue to enjoy their love affair with the gun, albeit a bit more controlled and regulated than they're used to.  But, the net result would be that more of the unfit and dangerous gun owners would be disarmed and more of the kids who are now being killed with guns would live.

What's your opinion?  Please leave a comment.

  1. It's because we know that you're exaggerating the extent of the problem and because we know that your proposals are no solution at all.

    1. Several kids get killed each and every day. Is that exaggerating? Further, how could one exaggerate the gravity of something like that?

Jim Carrey was right about you.

    2. The number is around 200 a year. That is down from the totals of years gone by. Education and safety warnings are working, so we don't need your radical solutions that would not achieve your stated goals. What we know is that your proposals aim at your hidden goal, namely total civilian disarmament.

    3. Are you such a liar that you're going to ignore the recent reports that indicate the numbers are twice what we've always thought? You even commented on that, in your typical nonchalant way, saying it's no big deal since they weren't new deaths, they were just deaths counted as homicides instead of as accidents.

Now, since it's convenient, you're forgetting all about that discussion and pretending the old figures are correct.

Besides, what kind of fucking cold-blooded animal thinks 200 dead kids a year is no big deal?

  2. The usual commenters have been conspicuously silent on this one. Only Greg had the nerve to try commenting. The blood of children is on your hands, you cold-blooded gun-rights fanatics: You are the ones responsible for preventing the simple improvements in gun control that would reduce the numbers.

    1. Ditto for the numerous posts you have about children getting hurt. Silence from them on all those posts.
