Quote of the day

It's not distasteful to act in the name of victims of gun violence. What's distasteful to squander the burning anger and intense political focus that such senseless bloodshed inspires. There's nothing dishonorable in taking the swift and necessary action to prevent other children from being massacred by an idiot with a war rifle.

  1. "A greater menace than legal setbacks is, as we alluded to in step number 5, the political payback the NRA seeks to exact. In the wake of post-Newtown and Aurora reforms, the NRA has already drawn blood. It led a successful September special-election recall of two state legislators in Colorado who voted to expand gun-control in March 2013, strengthening background checks and limiting magazines to 15 rounds. It was a well-funded fight on both sides, with Bloomberg and the NRA each ponying up about $350,000. Ultimately the NRA won in a low-turnout election where its grassroots power tipped the scales."

Grassroots power means the power of the voters. In the two recall elections, Gun control groups greatly outspent the what Rolling Stone refers to grassroots power and they still lost both recalls.
More recently, outspoken supporter of self defense, Sheriff David Clarke defeated an opponent in the Democratic primary. His opponent was supported by the big money of the gun control lobby which greatly outspent the gun rights lobby to no avail. An example of the will of the voters overcoming the power of money.

"Then earlier this month, the ad war began when a Madison group called the Greater Wisconsin Committee purchased more than $400,000 worth of broadcast ads to oppose Clarke and support Moews."

"And last week Bloomberg's political action committee, Independence USA, bought more than $150,000 in television ads and took aim at Clarke and his pro-gun stance that encourages residents to arm themselves for their own protection."

"And the NRA said it spent $30,000 in support of Clarke."

    1. Are you saying the racists and kill happy that represent the NRA is what Americans want?

    2. If you had bothered to look at the article I cited Anon, you might have noticed that the candidate that the NRA supported is African-American. But then, the NRA doesn't discriminate based on race, but based on issues.

    3. Laughable. The NRA hires known racists and keeps them on no matter what racist garbage they spew in public. Since you refuse to speak against that garbage and still support the NRA you must agree with their racist crap. No surprise.
