Pennsylvania Man Sentenced to Prison for Illegal Possession and Lying to the Cops about an Accidental Shooting Death

Local news reports

A Marshall-Shadeland man will spend five to 10 years in prison stemming from the accidental shooting death of a Bellevue woman earlier this year.

Charles Miles, 27, pleaded guilty Wednesday to single counts of involuntary manslaughter and illegally possessing a firearm before Common Pleas Judge Kevin G. Sasinoski.

Police said Miles accidentally shot Jacquelyn Bush, 25, on March 21. Police were called to a home in Marshall-Shadeland about 3:20 a.m. for a woman with a gunshot wound. Ms. Bush had been shot in the left buttock, with the bullet severing an artery.

Mr. Miles at first told police he was unsure how she got shot. He later admitted that they were dancing in the basement and that when he went to move a gun that was on a table, it went off.

  1. disgraceful nonchalance

10 years in prison is "nonchalance"--to a "disgraceful" degree? How many decades of his life do you think he should spend in a cage?

    1. The disgraceful part is that if he hadn't been a disqualified person and if he hadn't lied to the cops he'd be home right now playing with his guns.

Ah, so the "disgraceful" part is what "would have" happened, but didn't. Fascinating.

Also, are you claiming that the manslaughter conviction has something to do with his having been a prohibited person, and/or his attempt to mislead the police? I don't see how that could be.

    3. Kurt, lawful gun owners get away with this kind of shit every day - I post many of them.

    4. I have yet to see any post that someone has gotten away with anything. Except of course in your own opinion.

  2. So how is five to ten for involuntary manslaughter and illegal possession nonchalance?

    1. The same way blatant untruths are labeled "common sense and honesty".

    2. Explained above to Kurt. How many posts of lawful gun owners who get away with gross negligence do I have to post before you get it.
